ZE40 R110 2019 here. Love the car except that it seems to randomly stop charging. 8 get the following text message: 'Unexpected end of charge on your vehicle or charging spot.' it happens on both public and home chargers and is intermittent and unpredictable.
Once, I went to the car when it had stopped charging at about 70%, unlocked the car, and this triggered it to start charging again.
I don't have any charge schedules programmed.
This fault seems to have got worse in the last few months.
I took it to the garage a few weeks ago for it to have its 3 year service and MOT. All was fine, but upon investigating this fault, they said that it was a problem with the UCH which needed reprogramming. Something about changeover days. They were unable to reprogram it so are going to replace the UCH on the warranty. They quoted Actis solution 63494. Car is booked in for this work to take place on 17th June.
Does anyone have any similar experience? Is replacing the UCH a good idea? Does it have any implications for the car? Do you think it will solve the charging issue?
Hi thanks so much for responding. I wasn't expecting that you'd be able to offer much help but just thought you'd like to know that replacing and reprogramming the UCH didn't help my problem. I have to say, I wasn't expecting it to be the solution anyway!
I've tried cleaning the plug and cable sockets with some electrical contact cleaner and it seems to have made charging a little more reliable but the car does still cut out of the charge sometimes.
I was also wondering whether it could be the 12v battery that needs replacing?
I'll keep you posted with any progress.
Thanks again for your help.
HI Matthew,
It's really hard to give advice when we are not sure exactly what they have done I am afraid and what codes are shown.
After you just posted, I did double check the solution that you advised and that related to charging scheduling, not stopping charging randomly. The reason I am hesitant in my response is because I am not sure if the Service Advisor translated what was carried out incorrectly.
Did you get confirmation of exactly was carried out? The note i was thinking of is completely different to what you quoted.
Hi just coming back to this thread to say that the solution didn't work and the problem persists. Doe anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks so much for the useful advice on this! I really appreciate it. :)
Hi Matthew, Sounds as though solution will fix it. With regards the UCH, nothing to worry about with regards having it replaced. The dealership will transfer the parameters/settings from the old one onto the new one. :)
Thanks for responding Nick, your videos are great and have really helped me in getting used to my Zoe.
Sounds like this solution could be the one then.
I've heard of a few other ZE40s having the same issue. I wonder what causes it? Doesn't really make sense for the UCH to have been faulty from manufacture as this problem seems to be occurring more frequently now than before.
Heard of issue before solution sounds same as others
