I have a 67 plate Zoe R90 ZE40 and have been unable to charge successfully on Pod point 22kw units at my local Tesco.
Some months back all was well. I then found that I needed a software update and reset of several faults. Cost me over £400 and my local dealer say there is no problem and it must be a faulty point. But I see Zoe owners and other makes charging successfully.
Anyone found a similar issue??
Thanks for your comments guys
It is a little reassuring to know that I am not the only one who has been experiencing problem with pod point.
It seems a little bizarre that the Tesco charges might work better in the rain but I'm willing to give it a go
If I do find a solution to this problem I will put it on this forum
Hi
like some of the contributors below I have also been experiencing problems with charging using the Tesco pod points
I have tried all four of the charges at a number of Tesco’s and none of them seem to work anymore with my ZE 40
I have used Geniepoint chargers with my cable, so assume the problem is not with my cable.
I also went to the amazing Gridserve Station in Norwich and had a problem with the first 22kw charger like Podpoint, however the Gridserve guys reset the charger and it worked ok second time round.
I would be most interested in hearing if anyone has found a solution to this problem
Thanks I know most of the chargers around my area that won't work with my Zoe and can avoid them.
I try to check on comments left on Zapmap & Plugshare to see if there is any problems on any charger that is on my route that I plan to use.
Plus on Plugshare if you leave a comment next you visit there it .
It tells you when you last visited that charger.
We drove down to South Wales to stay for a week about 3 years ago and mainly used the Geniepoint ( Dragon Charging) chargers that are mounted on posts and are all 22kW while on holiday without a problem 👍
All very frustrating. I'm monitoring the 22kw charge when plugged in and taking notice of the cooling fan.
Last time I connected it didn't start and then dropped out after about 20 mins. Too many variables I'm afraid.
My 2017 Q90 is picky on Tesco's 22kW podpoint chargers.
Some work some don't,
Plus I find that if the 22kW won't work then the 7kW next to it won't either.
It's down to the installer of the charger and how picky the Zoe is on earthing.
Used lots of Geniepoint 22kW that are mounted on posts made by Alfen and they always work.
Plus 22kW chargers owned by Rawcharging , Connected Kerb work ok too.
Hi Jerry,
If the charge failed after 4.5kWh, are you sure you "claimed the charge" on the App after plugging in? If not it will automatically stop after 15 minutes. I had this once when I forgot to claim the charge - my own fault!
Hi Jerry, apologies for delay in coming back to you, I was away for the weekend. Yes, now we are starting to experience warmer temperatures, you will notice the fan cutting in and out far more regularly. The fan cuts in to regulate the temperature in order to stop the system from overheating.
Not personally. But the dealer said the cable was fine. Maybe I need to get some evidence of that. Not something that was shown as confirmation on the service report. Need to find a way of borrowing one I suppose!
Have you tried another type2 cable?
Hi,
Whilst difficult to answer without knowing exactly what software updates were actually carried out. There is a Renault solution which involves a software update which is directly connected to charging at public chargers.
Have you tried any other pod point chargers?
I would ask the dealer to confirm exactly what updates were carried out and when they were done in the first instance. Whereabouts are you located?
