Can anyone give me advice I have a Zoe GT Line 71 plate and I feel that the battery range is not fit for purpose
My dealership tell me that as I do short trips 1.5 mile x 4 per day 6 days a week and maybe a few other trips is normal and my battery health is 98% which is excellent I clock up 90 miles to 20% with 32 miles left is normal I DONT ?
when 100% charged the range shows
215 miles at 100%
138 miles at 80%
95miles at 60%
60 miles at 40%
32 miles at 20%
Energy charge 45.260 kWh
Be grateful on your comments
Seems about right to me. It'll get better in the summer (even with AC on). You'll get better on longer journeys around 60mph too.
Comment from the Renault Garage I bought this car for around town town short journey?
I am really unsure what else there is to add.
You are experiencing less range for the following reasons:
You are doing short journeys at low speeds, one of your journeys shows 6.7 miles at an average speed of 12mph, its tantamount to driving a petrol around in second or third gear. This is why 3kw were used. 50KWH divided by three is 16.67 KWH, 16.67 times 6.7 miles = 111.67 mile range.
Your range will decrease more so in cold weather, on one of your journeys you car lost 0.7 kw due to climate consumption and again in just 6.7 miles.
It is also difficult as that is an Average mph, it maybe you were doing 10mph for bursts and then putting the foot down for bursts, which would use more energy than a constant speed.
We will check the BMS when you are in but as far as we can see, your car is in perfect health.
You should notice an uplift in range if your average speed was 35mph and the climate was warmer.
Those ranges do not seem too far out. How ma y miles per kWh are you getting? It is much lowering cold weather and short trips. I imagine you are getting something Iike 2miles per kwh which mu,tiplied by the battery size of 52 kWh gives a range of 104 miles. In summer you will get nearer 5mikes per kWh which multiplied out gets you nearer the 250 miles.
I am by no means an expert on this only having had the Zoe since December but I guess it all, providing there is no issue with the car, depends on the type of journey and style of driving. To date my typical journey range / driving style is showing 4.4 m/kw. I presume that this figure is what creates the predicted range on a full charge. On a full charge my “predicted range“ is about 220/230 miles and it falls about 20 miles for every 10% of battery charge used. At present I am on 93 miles at 39%.
I am certainly not an expert driver but I am enjoying trying to modify my driving style to get the most out of the Zoe. I have got the “predicted range up from 3.8 m/kw to 4.4 m/kw since I have had it.
Looking at you figures there certainly seems to be either an issue with the vehicle or your style of driving/ type of journey is not conducive to getting the maximum out of an electric vehicle. Good luck.
