I'm enjoying the Zoe in the main, but it is spoilt by a severe dashboard rattle when driving on an uneven surface. The car is one year old, but feels like an old banger at times! Is this common?
The annoying rattle, which is intermittent, is still there. However, I may have located the source. Adjustment of the steering wheel, both vertically and horizontally, can stop the rattle, at lesat for a while. I wonder if it is possible to get inside the steering wheel/column adjuster mechanism?
Sadly yes. My boot also makes its fair share of noise (I have an audio file off my dealer of the one boot noise that had a warranty fix and it's NOT that though, that's more a tapping than a rattling). Shove bits of cardboard in the gap wherever you find play in the plastic trim - it's mostly bits of that rubbing or knocking on the bodywork. Once you have things fairly quiet you can replace it with something neater like adhesive foam padding or similar.
Me too! I have been trying to find the intermittent rattle for months. The car was serviced yesterday and the front tyres slightly overinflated. That made the rattle a lot worse. It is difficult to locate rattles in cars but this one seems to come from the dashboard area on the driver's (right) side.
Yep, mine rattles like crazy around town.
