Not to bad, better than expected, A new diamond cut alloy from the main dealer was £224, so I have ordered a new wheel, should be available tomorrow, I have approached my local tyre fitter for a tyre, he has also agreed to swap the tyre pressure monitoring sensor over.
I know sometimes a sudden jolt can make the air bag warning light come on it may just need resetting which most garages (including Halfords) can do through the OBD plug and if it is only that I sure they won't charge you as much as Renault.
So the Airbag light came on on Sunday 3/12/23 when starting the car (bit unusual), it went off on Tuesday 5/12/23 and again came back on on Wednesday 6/12/23 again when starting the car, this time it hasn't gone back off. So it would appear the airbags can self reset, as they did but in my case, the fault must be still there as the airbag light has come back on and this time stayed on. I have now been to another Renault dealer in Solihull, their customer service is far superior than Tamworth as they don't require a £130 payment just to plug the car in on a warranty claim. Problem is they are fully booked till the end of January, not surprisingly as they are far better. I do have my own code reader but given the age of the car I am reluctant to touch it because this is a warranty issue and somewhere their is a fault and I don't want to jeopardise my warranty claim. Next stop Renault Assistance, I'll give them a call. Richy
Up to now I've not had to go back to the dealer for any warranty work but the way it worked on my wife's Fiat was they said they would charge to investigate the problem and if they found it was covered by the warranty they would claim the inspection cost back from Fiat, I'm not sure if this is how Renault do it .
You can buy them online from eBay and scrapyards much cheaper than the main dealer price and they will post them but from the way it looks in your photo you could get that wheel refurbished for a fraction of the cost of a new wheel (probably gone up since I last looked but should be under £200), some companies will come out to you and do it outside you house.
Hi Colin, I need to find out how much they are new which will be tomorrow, I also have the issue with the tyre pressure sensor, that fortunately doesn't look damaged but I'm not sure they can be removed without destroying the rubber seal, need to see my local tyre fitter tomorrow to see what he recommends. A new tyre is somewhere between £125-£150.
The Zoe might be a small car but they are not cheap, the issue with the airbag will have to wait, the dealer want to charge me £140 to diagnose the airbag issue, on a car which has done 5000 miles and 16 months old. Shocking this car is supposed to have 3 years warranty.
Presumably only the tyre has gone. If the wheel rim is undamaged I would suggest that you contact a decent tyre outlet and get a replacement ev specific tyre.
Hi Andy, I think its rough, my wife drove it 7 miles home like that, I don't blame her, it was late at night and she didn't want to abandon the car. At the end of the day, although these are nice cars, they are just a piece of metal and a persons safety is more important.
