- Renault Arkana HybridOur Arkana is only 7 months old & everything functioned as the layperson might expect (550 miles from the first tank of fuel / 520 from the second...excellent) but the combined range significantly decreased after that from a great 500+ to barely 300 achieved miles out of a full tank. The change in our Arkana's behaviour in regards to fuel consumption I believe lies with the EV mode not engaging as much as it used to - regenerative charging / braking is working fine, replenishing the battery as expected, but the car has stopped deploying all of the available charge, with the ICE kicking in when just over half of the stored electrical energy has been used. It went back into the Renault dealership we bough it from in October for this issue, only to be advised that whilst that was odd there was nothing wrong & to keep monitoring it...... it has not gotten any better & is costing us a fortune to run (it's worse than our previous 1.5 T-Roc) • We are conservative drivers, with acceleration usually within the low green / eco range – our driving efficiency from the eco computer is 86% • Battery “E-save” mode (for power deployment) is not on • Cabin temp is usually set around 22-24 degrees, air con is not on • Some use of heated seats / steering wheel in the mornings Other than the decrease in seasonal temperature, which I always take into account for reduced fuel economy in the winter months, there are no direct factors I can identify to justify it…. The deployment characteristics of the battery / EV mode have just inexplicably changed - with "EV mode" not kicking in as frequently as it used to. The pattern is always the same the regen charges the battery until whatever level the battery takes over & then deploys that available charge until just under half the battery gauge has been depleted. The car is due back in at the garage again next week for this to be investigated further, but I'm wondering if anyone else has experience of the same / similar issue please, for me to arm myself with?J'aime
- ZOE Z.E.50/E-Tech 2019-PresentThis EV ownership is an interesting learning curve ! Had our GT line Zoe for about three months now. Love the car but we've had intermittent charging issues at home on OIG. We've recently had a few days away at a cottage and the car would not charge on their 7kw charger . Both properties have TT earthing systems - earth rod in our case. On reading around it seems the ZOE does earth resistance checks to ensure the charge session is 'safe' and if the resistance is too high it will not start a charge. I am presuming this is the case in the two properties. Further reading and applying some common sense thinking the earth resistence goes up when its cold and more so when prolonged dry conditions affect the substrate the earth rod is installed into. So today we had a failed OIG overnight charge, been very dry here and very cold = perfect conditions to increase the resistance to earth via the earth rod at our property. I tried a bump charge and got the EV is preventing the charge from the Zappi... a good clue. So I poured a couple of buckets of water into the ground around the earth rod and left it half an hour. Re started the bump charge and it ran perfectly !! So it seems my property is in need of a check for either a new earth rode or a better type of tt earthing system (plate not rod etc) BTW it was rewired 7 years ago. Ive asked Renault for the spec re required resistance setting the Zoe is seeking to safely. ( for the Zoe) to start the charge. We have also got the Zoe booked in for a full check and software update at the main dealers as I am sure I have read that there is a change to the sensitivity setting to reduce instances of this issue - my friends Kia has never had an issue charging.... Be interested to hear from anyone else who may have experienced such issues. Plus if any of my thinking is flawed please jump in or if you happen to know what the Zoe's parameters are for the resistance it needs to find to progress to a charge even better ?J'aime
- ZOE Z.E.50/E-Tech 2019-PresentHi everyone. Bought a 2021 ZE50 (R110) just over 2 weeks ago and absolutely love it. Came from a 2016 leaf (24kw) so this Zoe is a bit step up in comparison. My Leaf connected to Octopus Intelligent via my Zappi v2 charger with no issues. Can't say the same for my new Zoe. I have home charged 3 times with the new Zoe. 1st time connected via the car - no charger at all. 2nd time connected via charger and a partial charge and the same against last night. Asked for 50% top up and got around 12% on a 50% full battery. I'm getting EV Full messages from the My Energy app from the Zappi. The Zappi knows I've got a Zoe, since I removed my Leaf from the vehicle settings. Any help gratefully appreciated.J'aime
