MPG NOT AS EXPECTED

I have had my Arkana since mid January and love the car, it's very smooth and a pleasure to drive.

My only issue is with the MPG. I am currently getting around 45mpg, approx 10mpg less than official figures, which I realise are often over generous, but more than 20% difference seems excessive.

I have noticed, whenever the car comes off EV mode the Petrol mpg always seems very low and the engine is racing. Is this to assist in the charging, or is it a fault that the automatic gearbox is selecting too low a gear?

Has anyone else experienced this with their new Arkana?

MY ARKANA 1.6 IS AVERAGING 28MPG. COULD IT BE A FAULTY READING FROM CONTROL PANEL?

Hi, Apologies for missing post. Temperature will have a bearing on your MPG along with style of driving and journeys covered. I personally wouldn't be upset with achieving 45 mpg currently.

With regards your other point, no, I have not experienced but it may be worth getting checked out at your local dealership.

Thank you for this Jon. I know consumption is usually worse in the Winter months, and I have tried varying the way I drive, with no improvement. I assume you have an Arkana for which I appreciate your feedback as a fellow owner.

I have the 1.6 E-Tech model, which I chose rather than the 1.3 version as official figures for this model are around 10mpg better, but I am actually achieving more like the 1.3 quoted figure.

What I have noticed, when first starting up from cold, I can be achieving 60+mpg @ 30mph, but once the car has been in Ev mode and switches back to the petrol engine, consumption always drops to 15-19mpg @ 30mph, and I can hear the engine racing until switching back to Ev mode which seems wrong. I did ask the dealership to check this when I went back to collect some items which were not available when I collected my new Arkana, and they could not find an issue. It seems to me it could be a sensor problem which selects the wrong lower gear when switching to the petrol engine? I may have to revisit the dealer, or contact the main Renault Retail Group office.
