Crackling noise when charging!

New to the Zoe world but can I assume this is not normal.

Did it tonight when connected to a rapid charger. Stopped the charge after I heard it, restarted it and still there. Stopped after 5 minutes and still charging now.

I have the same.problem when

charging at 7kW or higher. When I drop the charge down to 4 kW the cracking goes away.

When charging at 7kW or higher the charging drops out randomly after ~10 minutes or so.

Hi Colm, if I were you I would have the crackling noise investigated further, as crackling noises are associated with arcing, which is not good.

Also have you tried to move the plug slightly whilst charging to see if the tone of the crackling changes?,

and

is the plug warm or hot when the crackling is in operation, both at start of charge and end of charge?

If the answer to the above is no, then most likely the main contactor or inverter is at fault, so dealer will have to repair same.
