Hello all. I've recently bought a 2018 Zoe with 52k on the clock.Driven it for about out two weeks mainly short local trips.I can't make rhyme or reason about how the car works out power consumed on journeys when comparing it to what the mileometer says. It's really weird when the miles left on the battery can reduce by 4 miles when going uphill from my home to the local by-pass which is less than half a mile. This car realy does not like hills in any shape or form,is there a knack to dring ev's.I charged it up Thursday night and it was showing 70% battery and 140 miles.During Friday and today according to the mileometer I have driven 18 miles but the battery is showing 109 miles left. 31v18?.It has been all local and never over 40 mph.Is this what I should expect or should I speak to the retailer. Thanks for looking and keep safe all. Thanks for that Jon.I will have a look at what you said. The hill I refer to is just a low to medium gradient in a local estate and has 2 priority passes and 2 give way to oncoming traffic.( a former accident hotspot). Cheers keep safe.John
Just think about your old MPG trip counter, when you used to reset, it would change the fuel range until it found a more accurate average to base it on. You can do exactly the with the MPKW trip, once you reset it, the range will significantly increase but will fluctuate up and down until again it is able to work out a average based on previous journeys.
If you haven't reset it, it would be worth asking the dealership if they can check it because it does seem to be fluctuating considerably given what you have said with driving style (assuming by hill, you don't mean a mountain) :)
HI Jon.Could you explain the mpkwh a bit more.I have only had the Zoe for 2 weeks and haven't been inside any of the info screens and as far as I am aware have not re set anything. The power left in the battery (show as miles remaining) is all over the place..Today I used a charging pod in Leeds. When I disconnected is was showing 70% charged and 141 miles left in the battery.Drove off to go to Asda and made a note of the mileometer,53716.Got to Asda mileometer showing 537120,battery miles showing as 129.Journey was mainly on the flat with one gentle gradient of about a mile and d id not exceed 35mph and no aggressive driving.Really confused even going up the gentle gradient the battery miles were going down quicker than a cold drink on a hot day.Should I speak, to Renault. CHEERS John Gott.
Hi John, to have that much fluctuation after going up hill, am I right in thinking you had recently reset your mpkwh?
The WLTP has been a big improvement in getting closer to the real figures, it is still a laboratory test and cannot take into account whether an individual driver’s style is aggressive or sedate, the traffic conditions, weather conditions, gradients. All of which have a significant impact on range.
I know What car did a test on the Z.E 50 and it came our very favorably compared to some of it's competitors, with only a 12% difference in what the "WLTP" figure was and what they managed to obtain.
I agree with you with regards learning to drive an EV...have you looked up EV Nicks on you tube? he has some great videos about D & B driving and all things EV.
Hello John
We noticed with ours it consumes more in miles than driven if we have the heater, or AC on of course, to be expected.
Also like yours ,it eats up miles going uphill BUT it recharges going down so we can see the mileage going UP if take foot off the accelerator and cruise or it stays level for ages if still accelerating. So it makes up for what it consumed before. Sounds like you stayed at the top of your hill!
