Hi. I have a Zoe not 2 years old yet went down a deep pot hole and bump underneath of car. Damage can be seek underneath but doesn't look major. I only realised there was damage when a while later there was an intermittent error message saying unable to charge battery. The garage who is a Renault dealer have said that they have not seen it before and without taking anything apart said the battery is damaged and a new one is £19,000 so insurer should right off car. They haven't even inspected it. I feel they don't even want the work. They have had the car five weeks and it is just sitting there as insurers not happy. I am just wondering if anybody else has had a similar happening? Is there a good garage out there that would know what they are doing?

@Lee Jones , all vehicle insurance premiums have gone up, due to many factors...parts supply hasn't helped which has caused the cost per claim to increase significantly (hire car charges etc). I am sure if you had a conversation with Range Rover owners, you would have a shock when you hear about some of the renewal prices.
Speaking with someone recently, insurance premiums in general have gone up by 25-30% YOY.
This is the problem with EVs .... and the reason why insurance premiums are going through the roof. Specialist battery repairers are needed urgently, or EV sales will grind to a halt due to high insurance.
£1900 for a new battery?
On this site they estimate that a 52KWhbatter should cost about £4500 which to me seems a bit on the low side.
On top of that there would be labour.
When there was the option of buying or renting the battery the price difference was about £7500.
Has your Zoe suffered other damage perhaps irreparable damage to the body shell?
Regards
Dave
Afternoon,
Following on from Andy's comments, I would recommend you contact your insurance company in the first instance and also ask for a report from the garage. Where abouts are you based?
Sorry to hear about your problem. Not being any sort of expert I would have thought that, providing you have got comprehensive insurance, it is down to your insurance company to either pay for your vehicle to be repaired or to pay you the current value of the vehicle.
In the past I have always given the problem to the insurers even down to them nominating / agreeing with which garage you get the vehicle taken to. You really should not have to bother with this. It should be sorted out between them and the garage.
It might also be good to get some pictures of the pot hole etc. and to try and find out if it had been reported to your.local Council for repair.
Good luck.
