Twice today the car had no power at all. I opened the door with the key. Is there a way to turn it on? I tried every button, held start for ten seconds. Finally it sprang to life after I had given up and SHUT the drivers door. Weird. Second time it turned on as I was climbing from the passenger seat into the drivers seat to try opening the drivers door? Help. Thanks.

Very Good, so it appears you can disconnect and reconnect a Zoe battery without fear of issues like battery codes etc. Thats good news. Thanks for replying. Richy
Fixed my problem. It died completely. I opened the bonnet and discovered the 12V lead was loose. After I tightened it, the car has been perfect.
I have just experienced the same problem. Neither key would unlock the car and the RAC had to use the manual key to open the door, causing the alarms to go off. Because the car wouldn't recognise the keys, the alarms couldn't be shut off and the ignition couldn't be turned on. 12v battery was checked and was being trickle charged from the traction battery.
RAC came back the next day expecting to recover the car to the dealer. However, after unlocking it with the manual key (setting the alarm off again) the car responded to placing the key card in the appropriate zone and started OK.
The dealer ran the full set of diagnostic checks but didn't find a problem. However, the batteries in BOTH 4 month-old key cards were completely dead. The mechanic said that keeping both cards together has been shown to cause the batteries to discharge (they are normally kept together in a Faraday box).
If this is not an old-wives tale designed to stop me bothering them, I suggest that it should be more widely pubicised.
Thanks, but no. I replaced them both recently. I tried both keys!!
I wonder if the remote battery needs replacing. Richy
