The All-New Dacia Spring has been recognized at the TopGear.com Electric Awards 2024, earning the title of ‘EV Deal of the Century’.
The judges hailed this pure-electric supermini as a game-changer, noting its enjoyable driving experience and its status as the only EV on the market weighing less than a ton. Its affordability stands out significantly when compared to its competitors.
Dacia announced that this five-door hatchback will start at £14,995, making it the most budget-friendly new electric car in the UK, with substantial savings offered.
Ollie Marriage, Head of Car Testing at TopGear.com, said:
“The £15k Spring isn't just ridiculous value, it's the first electric car to prove that lightness and batteries can go together: all in it weighs 970kg. It's also charming and engaging to drive. It rides softly, rolls lots and makes you smile.”
Luke Broad, Dacia Brand Director for the UK, also said:
“Spring rewrites the EV rulebook. Its price is so competitive that it’s one of the UK’s most affordable cars full stop, which is even more remarkable when its usability and standard equipment are considered. Add its proven durability, and it’s easy to see why TopGear.com single it out as being the best deal of the century.”
The All-New Dacia Spring is set to debut in the UK in October and is available in two trim levels: Expression and Extreme. Customers can choose between a 45 hp motor or a more powerful 65 hp/48 kW motor. It offers a range of up to 137 miles (WLTP mixed cycle) or 186 miles (WLTP urban cycle) from its 26.8 kWh battery. Charging from 20% to 100% takes under 11 hours on a domestic outlet or just four hours with a 7kW wall box.
