Dacia Spring: The Most Anticipated Electric Car of 2024 in EcoCar Electrified Top 50

The upcoming All-New Dacia Spring supermini has been awarded 'Most Eagerly Awaited Electrified Car of 2024' in the EcoCar Electrified Top 50.

The All-New Dacia Spring is priced from just £14,995 OTR, making it the cheapest new electric car on sale in the UK. It will arrive at Smiths Renault Peterborough later this year. To keep up to date with its arrival, you can register your interest here.

Ian Robertson, Editor and Publisher of Diesel&EcoCar and organiser of the annual awards, explained why the magazine singled out the All-New Dacia Spring as 2024’s most wanted EV:

“British buyers have looked on jealously at other European markets that have been able to buy the first-generation Spring since its arrival in showrooms during 2021. After pleading with Dacia and stamping our feet, now we will be able to see what all the fuss is about in a considerably enhanced version of the pure electric city car. With prices starting from just £14,995, it’s the cheapest electric car on sale in the UK bar none, and October can’t come around fast enough. Amongst our readers, it’s the car that arrives in 2024 that has created the biggest buzz, generated the most number of questions, and demanded lots of answers.”

Luke Broad, Brand Director, Dacia UK, said:

“With an ever-increasing number of UK car buyers wanting to switch to an electric car but high initial prices being a recognised barrier, there’s huge appetite for a usable, well-equipped and affordable EV. We are thrilled that so many people are looking forward to its arrival and, like them, we can’t wait for the All-New Spring to hit our shores – it really does have the potential to be the game-changing EV that people need.”

Redefining the EV Experience, the All-New Dacia Spring offers incredible value, a comprehensive standard specification, and everyday practicality. Available in Expression and Extreme trim levels, it boasts a range of up to 140 miles (WLTP mixed cycle) or 186 miles (WLTP urban cycle).

The Spring can be equipped with either a 45 hp motor or a more powerful 65 hp/48 kW motor. Its compact 26.8 kWh battery can be charged from 20% to 100% in under 11 hours using a suitable domestic outlet, or in just four hours with a 7kW charger.

Standard features include a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, cruise control, manual air conditioning, rear parking sensors, a Media Control system with USB port, electric front windows, and remote central locking.
