The Renault Scenic E-Tech 100% Electric has emerged victorious in the latest What Car? electric SUV group test, surpassing the widely acclaimed Tesla Model Y.
Renowned for its thorough evaluations, What Car? magazine and website conducted a detailed 12-page group test. The Scenic E-Tech 100% Electric not only outperformed the Tesla Model Y but also triumphed over the Kia EV6, securing the top spot in the three-car showdown.
Adding to the Scenic's impressive win is its affordability. According to What Car?, "The Scenic range kicks off at a keen £37,495, undercutting its rivals by thousands... indeed, we had to wheel out the most expensive version of the new Scenic, with its enormous ‘Long Range’ battery and range-topping Iconic trim, to make this a fair comparison with Britain’s best-selling electric SUV, the Tesla Model Y.”
What Car? praised the Scenic E-Tech 100% Electric for its competitive price, generous equipment, inviting interior, and substantial range. The magazine awarded it five stars for equipment, noting the high standard specification. The testing team also gave the vehicle a five-star rating for its range, highlighting its usability as the current ‘Car of the Year.’
Designed with modern families in mind, the Scenic’s spacious cabin received high praise. What Car? remarked, “The Scenic’s interior is a nice place in which to travel, featuring a tasteful blend of ambient lighting, soft-touch materials, and an eclectic range of fabrics that spread from the dashboard to the headlining.”
The Scenic's comfort features, including electric adjustment and massage functions for the front seats, were also highlighted. What Car? noted, “This ease of adjustment, combined with a slightly elevated driving position and comfortable, supportive seats, make the Scenic the one to go for when faced with a long journey. You’ll enjoy the best forward and side visibility in the Scenic, too. However, the Scenic has a bit more rear head and leg room than either of its rivals, and its seats offer significantly better under thigh support than the Model Y’s.”
What Car? concluded, “Sometimes a radical rethink is required, and Renault’s reinvention of the Scenic has turned out to be a masterstroke. This is a comfortable, practical, easy-mannered car that, when you consider its lengthy range and generous roster of kit, is incredibly well priced. It wins this test at a canter – and cheaper versions might even score five stars.”
Guillaume Sicard, Managing Director of Renault UK, expressed his satisfaction, saying, “We have always said that the Scenic is a game-changer and here is the official proof, with one of the industry’s most respected automotive titles recognizing that it is superior to what has long been considered the unbeatable benchmark in its sector. With the test assessing each car across comprehensive criteria, customers of the Scenic E-Tech 100% Electric can rest assured that it is a complete all-rounder that is the best of the best.”
