Top Gear has named the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric the ‘Best Electric Hatch’ at their Electric Awards 2022
They praised the way it drives, the way it looks, and the quality of the interior.
It’s the second award the car has received from Top Gear, following on from it winning the ‘Family Hatch of the Year’ award in their annual awards issue.
Top Gear has presented the ‘Best Electric Hatch’ aware to the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric at the Top Gear Electric Awards 2022. The awards judges were impressed with how engaging the Megane was to drive, its stylish appearance, and the high-quality feel of the cabin.
The judges commented, “The New Renault Megane E-Tech is just so serene. The suspension takes on a magic as you get some speed under the wheels, it opens up and breathes beautifully. It’s quiet too, but it isn’t soggy. Sharp steering and rapid responses keep it alive to your direction. The powertrain is alert too – you’d expect that from a smallish electric hatch of 220bhp endowment. But frankly, you might still want a Megane even were its dynamics a metaphorical car crash. It looks great, muscular but not OTT and the cabin is a lovely piece of work, another example of the way Renault has long overtaken the VW incumbency in material quality.”
The Top Gear Electric Awards were first held in 2020 and were established to celebrate the very best electrified cars the world has to offer. This is the second aware the Megane has received from Top Gear, following on from the Family Hatch of the Year’ award it won earlier this year in the annual Top Gear awards issue.
The Megane E-Tech Electric launches later in 2022 and is available with a 60kWh battery for up to 292 miles of range (WLTP). Multiple charging options are available up to 130kW for a faster turnaround, providing up to 186 miles of range in just 30 minutes.
