I was having problems with my charging and my dealer found software needed updating. I was surprised that updates were not done as part of the service or at least offered. Anyway it cost several hundred pounds and took 2 days.

Spotted a small catch or lever on the boot lock itself when I had a closer look. Still need to crawl inside with a light to try it. Didn't have time to have a go myself. Be interested to know what you find out.

I believe there is an internal release. Drop down the back seat. Then locate what should be a plastic or rubber bung next to the lock. Remove this and you should find a lever or catch of some sort that if pulled will release. Not done this myself, but it's the sort of device you find on most cars. Good luck.

I took it to an independent garage as it was mechanical rather than anything specialist dealer wise. As I said previously I had no idea of the severity of the problem until they called me. It cost £175.00 in total all parts,labour and vat.

Anne. The garage who are doing the repair have not commented. I have not spoken to Renault yet. It is rather unusual, I would expect even given the state of roads it may be something that becomes more common.

What did the charge drop to as a matter of interest? I achieve around 170 in the good weather on my 67 plate. Down to 129 when zero c or there abouts.

the fan in the rear is very random. I've just done a 5 min journey to Tesco, connected to 22k and the fan kicked in after a couple of mins. Outside temp 13c. Did the same thing last week and no fan! It was a lot warmer then as well. Not sure if I will ever understand what exactly goes on.

@Jon@Smiths thanks for the info. Very kind. I did manage a charge on my local 22kw today for an hour without any problems. No cooling fan running, so still very unsure about reliability.

that's a rather impressive story of problems and across different suppliers. I don't have access to that many 22kw locally so it's difficult to make comparison. My local 7kw Podpoint always seems to be reliable. I'm going away to stay at a couple of hotels up country soon and will be connecting to an assortment of points then. That experience will give me a better picture of where I stand .

All very frustrating. I'm monitoring the 22kw charge when plugged in and taking notice of the cooling fan. Last time I connected it didn't start and then dropped out after about 20 mins. Too many variables I'm afraid.

@David Trewern that is one thing that concerns me. I always secure the the charge via the app. Definitely did on this occasion, but have my doubts about it being 100% correct. As I've had so much difficulty recently I make sure all is done correctly. I will try again and on other 22k units to see if I get more consistency. Thanks.

Thanks Jon. Not noticed this even in the warm weather. Just thought if there was some sort of overtemp protection when charging at 22k this could be my problem if not functioning. Iv'e had 2 successful 22k charging sessions this month on the Podpoint I regularly use. Yesterday all seemed well when I connected, fan running and charge confirmed at 2.5 hours. Returned after that time to find it had failed and only put in 4.5kWh. Still very much at a loss to understand what is going on. I will keep trying even though it all seems a little random. @Jon@Smiths could you tell me if a fan should be running when on 22k charge? Is this for cooling?

@EV Nick I've not thought about that. No idea where I could borrow a type 2 cable for a period to try it. Guess it would be best to carry it and if I use mine and it fails, try the other one straight away. Process of elimination I suppose.

@EV Nick I do think there is a difference between charging on 22kw points. My experience has been mixed. But I have seen other Zoe's charging on the podpoint I have trouble with. I have seen reference to the earthing issue elsewhere and if this is the problem it is very random in it's occurance. I think I may have to live with it as it's cost me £500 so far in software and testing. Renault will not help and only suggest I get a second opinion from another dealer. That would be at my cost and no help from Renault.

Not personally. But the dealer said the cable was fine. Maybe I need to get some evidence of that. Not something that was shown as confirmation on the service report. Need to find a way of borrowing one I suppose!

I live in the Bournemouth area. The report advised that the vehicle needed to be locked out to carryout an update. The report states :-PEB, EV, BCB, BMS & BMS SAFETY. ECUS need updating. I have little idea what these are. It then states that all the above were reprogramed and up to date. Charged to 100% and reset consumption to 233 miles. There is only one other 22kw pod point local to me and I have had some success with this in the past but not since the fault developed. One thing I have noticed is, that when I start there is a fan noise that I do not hear when a failure occurs.
